FALL FOLIAGE TOUR, September 12-15, 2024

Great North Woods Guided Drive

Miles: 153 round trip

Drive Time: 3hr. 37 min.

Departure Time: 9:00 AM

We call this the Great North Woods drive with beautiful views, points of interest and interesting history. Our drive begins heading north toward the 13 Mile Woods. Last year we saw a moose munching in the wetlands along the road in this area. Along the way keep a sharp eye out for local wildlife (moose, bear, deer…) and unique sites.  Have you ever seen a boom pier, or an Olympic ski jump on the wayside? You may have heard of L.L.B… But have you heard of L.L. Cote? You will on this drive.

Dixville Notch affords many beautiful views. We’ll stop at Dixville Notch State Wayside, The Baby Flume. A pretty flume just steps from your car.  Just beyond the Baby Flume there’s a peak in the road at the high point of the notch, you’ll know when you get to it. On the way down don’t miss Lake Gloriette on the right with the Balsams in the background.
We’ll make a rest stop at the scenic 80’ Beaver Brook Falls Wayside in Colebrook, before making a loop into Pittsburg where we’ll cross the 45th parallel.

Following lunch in Colebrook, we’ll dip into Vermont just long enough to pass over the Columbia Covered Bridge built in 1912. The bridge spans the Connecticut river between Lemington, Vermont and Columbia, New Hampshire.

Just when you think you’ve left the wilderness behind, the view heading into Jefferson opens up to a gorgeous view of the western side of Mt. Washington, offering great views on our way back to the Town & Country.

Saturday, Group Dinner at the Town & Country

Saturday evening we’ve planned a group dinner at the Town & Country.
Menu options for the group dinner will be available closer to the event date. You will make your menu choices and pay for your dinner when you check in at the Town & Country.

Live entertainment is offered in the lounge on Friday and Saturday night.
