Wolfeboro, the oldest summer resort in America

Well, Wolfeboro has been quite the conundrum!
Our first goal is to offer a Guided drive from the Attitash Grand Summit to Wolfeboro.
Second, we’d like to have volunteers in Wolfeboro to greet members who may be driving into the area on their way to the Attitash Grand Summit.
Third, offer a group drive back to the Attitash Grand Summit for members returning from the M/S Mount Washington cruise and anyone else still in the area around 2:00PM.
Fourth, those of you who went on the M/S Mount Washington Cruise may want to stop in at the Wright Museum before heading back to the Attitash Grand Summit.
All that and in between shopping, lunch and maybe a YumYum snack will be in order.
All maps and directions will be in the FreakOut Guide for anyone who wants to venture off in a smaller group or on their own.
Things have been dragging while we waited and waited for schedules and pricing. There are many things to do in and around Wolfeboro. We mention three favorite destinations at registration.
Finally, Spring 2023 schedules and pricing!
I’ll begin with the New Hampshire Boat Museum. They won’t be open Wednesdays in June. So, I lead you a stray on that one. The hours for 2023 are Thursday to Saturday through June. Their site is nhbm.org if you’d like to take a peek.
If you go back to my December 9th blog, you’ll find a write-up about the Wright of World War II history, www.wrightmuseum.org The Wright Museum is excellent and I recommend you add it to your day.
They are open Wednesdays in June, 10:00AM-4:00PM (last admission 3:00PM)
Admission:
Adults – $14.00 ($1.00 off with AAA card)
Military and Seniors – $11.00

My first love began at age 2 with the ocean, boating and fishing. So, when we decided to invite everyone to NH for FreakOut I wanted to plan a drive to the ocean. That didn’t come to pass because the distance from Bartlett to the seacoast was too far. ☹ But! After a bit of fussing the Wolfeboro drive was added. Wolfeboro is on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, not an ocean, but it is the largest lake in NH, at approximately 25 miles long and 15 miles wide, covering approximately 72 square miles. Winnipesaukee is a beautiful clear lake with 365 islands of which 274 are habitable, and approximately 240 miles of shoreline and beautiful views. This is where the third destination mentioned at registration comes in. The M/S Mount Washington has a stop in Wolfeboro.

You won’t get any fishing time on board but you will enjoy the narrated cruise and beautiful lake views while learning about the regions’ history.
The M/S Mount Washington will take you for a 2 ½ hour trip around lake Winnipesaukee with brief stops to pick up passengers at Alton Bay and Weirs Beach before returning you to Wolfeboro. Lunch is available on board from their quick service restaurant. There’s also a full bar and gift shop on board.
This activity is on own, to make reservations for the M/S Mount Washington, go to: CruiseNH.com, tickets can be purchased at the dock but reservations are recommended because they do sell out.
Daytime Scenic Tour-Wolfeboro, Wednesday, June 7th @ 11:15-1:45
Departure Address: 11 Dockside Street, Wolfeboro
General Admission – Adults 13+ $45
General Admission – Children 4-12 $28
General Admission – Babies 3 & under Free
+6% Service Fee
Times listed are departure times. Plan to arrive at the port 30 minutes prior to boarding to find parking, secure your tickets and walk to the dock.
For the safety and comfort of all passengers, all vessels in the Winnipesaukee Fleet are non-smoking.

I have always parked behind the Train Depot off of Railroad Ave. There’s a Visitor’s Center and public restrooms in the Train Depot. On the M/S Mount Washington website they are offering prepurchase parking for $5 when you purchase your tickets.
Helpful Information from the site:
Parking in Wolfeboro can be challenging, and meters may not last for the entire cruise. Park at Kingswood Regional High School and Jolly the Trolley will bring you to the railroad station, across the street from the dock. After the cruise, Jolly will take you back to your car. Want to enjoy Wolfeboro a little longer? Not a problem! Jolly is available all day! $5 per person.
Note that this product is only available to people purchasing tickets for the 11:15 AM cruise from Wolfeboro.
So, the plan is to have members beginning their day at the Wright Museum que up first at the Attitash Grand Summit, followed by members going on the M/S Mount Washington.
The Wright Museum group in front will turn left into the Wright Museum. Rather than control the amount of time members can enjoy the museum, we will have the turn-by-turn directions into Wolfeboro center so members can go at their leisure after enjoying the museum. There are many options for shopping and eating in Wolfeboro. Members will be given information on the area. As I mention above, I like to park behind the Train Depot. If you have any Wolfeboro questions the Visitor’s Center is there as well. My favorite place for lunch is the Wolfeboro Dockside Grille and Dairy Bar because it is right at the docks.
The second group headed to the M/S Mount Washington cruise will continue into Wolfeboro Center. Members with prepurchase parking will turn Left and head to the Kingswood Regional High School. Members without prepurchase parking will turn Right into Wolfeboro Center, and park behind the Train Depot.
An excellent WWII history museum, beautiful clear water, the M/S Mount Washington and the Yum Yum Shop! Wednesday’s drive to Wolfeboro is promising to be a great day. To top it off our maps will send you back to the Attitash Grand Summit via Route153.
Route 153 is a playful twisting turning up and down road with beautiful views. No worries of drop offs and it’s marked with a center line. You will pass by some of the area’s smaller lakes and even a small ski hill. If you didn’t get your ice cream fix in Wolfeboro there’s Bobby Sue’s Homemade Ice Cream on 153 in Freedom. We’ll mark it on the map. They are open 12PM-8:00PM every day and they have a rest room.
We’ll keep you posted on any updates. As always when I write about FreakOut, I can’t wait to get there! Then, I laugh to myself because I’ve already done most of it. But I haven’t shared it with all of you! 88 Days!
Shout out to you Lisa! Your articles are a great lead in to a week of fun. Can’t wait to get there!
Thanks Dolores!
I’m having fun and can’t wait for all of you to join me and the rest of the Northern New England Chapter.
Best,
Lisa
